Let’s Explore What’s Possible

Every place has its own stories, character and relationships.

I’m interested in developing my artistic practice through spending time in places and developing creative conversations with the people and communities I encounter.

Rather than arriving with a predetermined outcome, I spend time listening, observing and making… allowing relationships, questions and creative responses to emerge.

For me, a residency is a way of being present. It creates time and space to pay attention to a place and see what might emerge through making, conversation and time.

What might we explore?

Every residency develops differently because every place is different.

A residency might begin with a particular place, community, question or simply a sense that there is something worth exploring.

Through creative exploration, we might discover:

• Stories, relationships and possibilities that might otherwise remain unseen.
• New ways of seeing or understanding a place.
• Opportunities for people to meet, talk, make and participate.
• Questions around identity, belonging, meaning or connection.
• Creative work that continues to live within a place after the residency.

I don’t arrive knowing exactly what the work will become. That’s part of the point.

A Different Way of Seeing

By spending time within a place, I develop artistic responses through making, noticing and capturing. The work might take the form of photographs, films, songs, poems, publications, installations or participatory experiences, depending on what emerges.

The aim isn’t simply to document a place, but to discover something through being there.

The resulting work might create opportunities for reflection, conversation, engagement or sharing, while remaining rooted in genuine artistic exploration.

Developing a Residency

Every residency asks different questions.

I’m interested in developing residencies with places and organisations where there is a genuine curiosity about what might emerge from spending time together. You might have a fully formed idea. Or perhaps you simply have a place, community, question or possibility that you’d like to explore.

We can start with a conversation and see where it leads.
