Artist Residencies
I process by making.
I work as an Artist in Residence with communities, festivals, charities, churches, cultural organisations, heritage sites and wellbeing programmes.
Each residency is developed in response to a particular place and its people.
Rather than arriving with a fixed outcome, I spend time listening, noticing and making. Together we develop an approach shaped by your context, your aspirations and the opportunities already present.
Whether a residency lasts a few days or several months, every project begins with curiosity and grows through creative enquiry.
What Can a Residency Offer?
Every residency is different, but creative enquiry can help organisations and communities to:
- express the identity, values and culture of a place in fresh and authentic ways
- reveal stories, creativity and connections that might otherwise go unnoticed
- bring people together through shared creative experiences
- create space for reflection, conversation and new perspectives

Beyond Documentation
A residency doesn’t simply record what already exists.
By spending time within an organisation or community, I develop artistic responses that can help people see their place differently – revealing its character, values and identity in ways that conventional documentation or marketing often cannot.
The resulting work often becomes a valuable resource for communication, engagement and advocacy long after the residency has finished, while remaining true to the artistic enquiry from which it emerged.

Commissioning a Residency
Each residency is developed specifically for its context.
Costs vary depending on duration, location, partners and intended outcomes, but typically include:
- Artist fee
- Research and development
- Residency activity
- Creative production
- Materials
- Documentation
- Public sharing or exhibition
I also work collaboratively with partners to develop proposals suitable for funding applications, including Arts Council England, Arts Council Wales, local authorities, heritage organisations and community programmes.
